WEIGHTS AND PULLING:

Below you will see some PHOTOS OF OUR DOGS WHO perform this sport.

Weights and pulling should never we done with a dog who has not been screened for hip and elbow dysplacia. Weight pulling can wear the joints down and it is advisable to only do the sort of pulling that is helping and not meant to see how much weight you can pull. We have attended weight pulling sessions where Staffordshire Terriers pull 1200+ pound and exibit so many muscles it looks like they are on steroids.

We do not suggest this for a Bouvier as this is not what they were bred for. Remember they were bred to herd and protection the herd not sheer power and proof of pulling a massively weighted down sled. This can go hand in hand with carting and just as with weight pulling the cart needs to weigh a managable amount not over stocked.

To add weights and carting are to be a slow and increased process that illustrates work outs and practice in the gym for the Bouvier. Its important not to strain them with over loading the sled or cart and tearing muscles.
